New Album

Now guys, I don’t want to alarm you, but I’ve done something pretty freakin’ huge:
That’s right! Painfully Mainstream, my second album, is now on general release on DFTBA Records! It’s got eleven wonderful lovely songs on, including favourites such as Indigo, Porphyrophobia, Song For The Painfully Indie, Autumnsong, and MANY MORE!

It’s been two years since I first began recording songs on my computer, without ever having the inclination to release an album. That I did and many people love it to this day and still listen to it regularly astonishes me and makes me very happy. Now, two years later, I’ve consciously tried to make music that’s as exciting, gleeful and listenable as it possibly can be. All I can hope for is that you love this one too. From what I've gathered from this website/ stalker-feed, you are a pretty cool guy for the following reasons

A) You're music is simply amazing;
B) Awesome taste in music. What other bands do you listen to other than NMH and the flaming lips?;
C) You read Questionable Content;
D) You are spectacularly attractive.

Also: I cannot wait to recieve Painfully Mainstream via these real-world physics you speak of!

First of all, congratulations. It's not the easiest thing to find someone with your depth of musical understanding, even more in your age line. I listen to most of your album and was very well surprised to see a wide research within your musical language. So again, congratulations. If you keep tracking that path you will achieve a very fine level of refinement.

I do have, though, a few technical observations: It would be very effective to work on your breath support. There's some heavy breathing in the fast pace songs and that affects the pitch on your voice. Another thing is the diction. I do realize that you're not trying too be as intelligible as someone speaking but some of the text gets a bit choked.

I believe that's all. My intentions were the best possible! :)

I came across your stuff by accident... one of my favourite songs is "Indigo" by Moloko...and I hadn't seen the clip for a while so I jumped on ye olde youtube ... watched the clip.. got my fill and then your "Indigo" was in the related videos... clicked... and loved it. Hi Tom, just received your second album from DFTBA today. Already listened to it on here, I think it's a fabulous album and a natural progression from your first (which I also loved and own :-) ). I don't often buy music (radio and Spotify FTW!) but make an effort for those that I feel passionate about and deserve my hard-earned money - like yourself. Keep up the fantastic work and I can't wait for the third album!

Your first album was SO MUCH better than this. I hear way too much fancy production, none of the simple heartfelt songs like "We made a film". (And the cover, please!! How about some artwork that you're also very good at?) A little piano, a little bass or drum, but mainly your talent, your unique voice and amazing lyrics. It was all there on the 1st album, with so much promise. Please don't lose it, maybe you should unload DFTBA, and get back to you.

know what would be amazing? if you could put up the chords to all of your songs on this website...? I've worked out a few of them, but I've only just started the ukulele and, being Tom Milsom, you have to use all the tricky chords and strumming patterns. I've heard it's pretty amusing watching me trying to make sense of your hands when you play the chords left handed/upside down and at the speed of some mad animal, however I'm sure many would appreciate this gesture? <333

well, aside from bright eyes, the hush sound, and some oldies favorites you're one of my favored artists at the moment.

it's nice to know you're so multi-talented, but thus far i've only ventured to check out your music, and i'm glad i've happened upon it.

continue to write appealing music for your hoards of fans (i know, it must be so hard to have an accent and flip your hair), but you have confidence which makes itself known when you make a video.

this is getting really long know, but i hope to listen to lots of your songs and either memorize them into my mental radio, or simply buy your CD. i'll probably go with the latter,
