A flurry of activity

Most of which is aimed at YOU! YES! YOU!

I did a video, for one thing:

So that’s nice. The thing with Lady Gaga songs is that while they’re technically very well written songs (and why wouldn’t they be, she has a team of crack writers behind her at every turn) they tend to be polished down to nothingness, not to mention the fact that they all use the same, salient chord sequence (which is very convenient). So I did a piano cover of all of them at once. Lady Gaga! Pianos! YouTube Success – I am your bitch.

What else? Oh yeah, I’ve been working with the lovely and talented Alex Day producing his new EP, 117% Complete, an EP about video games which I think may well be the most musically accomplished thing we’ve ever done together. It sounds beautiful. Orchestral and 8-bit at the same time. Check it out when it’s released on March 1st. I wanted to make it so that it would be really enjoyable even if the listener had no idea what a video game even was. I think we totally achieved that. I’m psyched, and you should be too. Things I have been doing in the FUTURE*:

- Producing Alex Day’s NEXT ALBUM ^_______^ which is called The World Is Mine and will be so bloody cool it will make your skin go inside out in pure amazement and joy.
- Producing Eddplant’s FIRST ALBUM ^_________^ upon which production has been started, and which should be out this year fo’ sho, because people are sick of him ONLY EVER RELEASING EPs.
- erm… third album? You’ll be lucky, but it could happen. More in a later blog. Promise. <3

Right, and on that bombshell, back to feverishly refreshing the comments on my new video! :D

    I was ashamed to find myself putting together a chord sheet for this, and embarrassed when my mother walked in on me playing it on uke. I tried to explain to her that I wasn't "really" sing Lady Gaga; she didn't believe me . :/

    You are absolutely positutely fabulous! My favorite part of the single-track vocals, if you want to call it that, is how you heard all of the songs mixed in your head and just sang it that way. It definately takes talent to keep track of three or four songs playing in your head at the same time and pull out various bits and pieces from each. I have a feeling you weren't thinking extremely hard about it although I could be wrong, it seems as though it comes naturally to you. Well, bravo. It was fantastic. And your smile at the end is totally adorable, which I don't feel creepy saying because I'm not extremely old and not extremely young. Thanks for sharing this

    I love alex's idea for the new album, and I love the Pokemon song that you can hear on the DFTBA website... I will definitely be buying that the moment it comes out. annoyingly, however, I have no virtual money, all my worldly worth is in Cash so I can't get it straight off the site, I have to pay my paents to download the MP3s off Amazon...

    Oddly, Grammar IS important... as are words and tenses... without these thing we are nought but animals.... (I digress)

    I bought Painfully Mainstream that way... and Parrot Stories.... I love them both, I think you are a genius. :D

    And I play Yellow Pokemon on Gameboy Colour because I am seriously cool... nobody would think I was 17 and a Girl... never mind...

    Have you ever seen her music videos? "Paparazzi" is practically a porno, and in the end of "Bad Romance," fire is coming out of her bra as she lies beside a charred human being. I liked yours much better. You aren't as much of a creeper.

    For about the first 30 seconds of this song I was distracted by the fact that I finally got to see what your tshirt says XD I believe you wore it at the Oxjam gig, and I used the picture you have from there in a school project (yes, I wrote about how amazing you are - in German xD Perhaps one day I'll send it to you.) but anyway, you could only see half of the writing and ever since I saw that pic I wanted to know what it said, because I wa sure it'd be something amazing. I was not disappointed :D

    Anyway, back to the song. I agree they are fairly good songs, and that they're very repetitive. But you've already covered all that quite intelligently, as usual. But I will say this - you have some sort of magic touch. Anything you do instantly becomes about 120% more awesome, including pop-song mashups. Which is why I am over the moon that you are producing so many albums this year ^.^ I think the only ways my year could get better are if you released a new album or I got to meet David Tennant...but the year is still young, so who knows!

    I was listening to Alex's acoustic songs and then I thought "Oh, amazing things could be done with this!" and then I remembered that the album already exists and I felt stupid. I'll order it and everything else as soon as fate has stopped taking all my money.

  • Lady Gaga's songs all have the same beats and for the most part themes at just different paces. She proves that music is turning into complete shit.

    I miss Poke`mon and Sonic as well :(
