Now guys, I don’t want to alarm you, but I’ve done something pretty freakin’ huge:

That’s right! Painfully Mainstream, my second album, is on general release from today on DFTBA records! It’s got ten wonderful lovely songs on, including favourites such as Indigo, Porphyrophobia, Song For The Painfully Indie, Autumnsong, and MANY MORE!

We’re looking to get a page up soon where you can stream the songs and listen to them, in a try-before-you-buy situation, but heck, if you have my first album, there’s a chance you’ll want to buy it straight away, so I ain’t gonna stop ya. It’s been two years since I first began recording songs on my computer, without ever having the inclination to release an album. That I did and many people love it to this day and still listen to it regularly astonishes me and makes me very happy. Now, two years later, I’ve consciously tried to make music that’s as exciting, gleeful and listenable as it possibly can be. All I can hope for is that you love this one too. And I really hope you do. Obviously. GO BUY IT NOW KTHX

    Congratulations for your new album Tom! I am so, so, so jealous of you. I itch to be a musician. Anyway, I don't mean to judge, no , no , no. But why is your face on the cover? It seems pretentious, don't you think? You look good in it and all but I liked your oldest album's cover better... in this one, you just seem like a scene kid and no more. I have to be honest, I didn't buy any of your albums, but I do watch your videos on youtube, or whatever. The thing is, if I had been able to buy either of them, just judging by the cover I would have bought the first one, just because it has tons of more personality in it.
    Maybe someone told you to do it, giving you advice for something I don't wanna explain right now... too tedious, and it is 1am.
    Don't take this the wrong way, though... I guess I don't really know you and I couldn't possibly know how pretentious or whatever you are. Lots of luck in whatever you do, by the way.

  • What a shame, I still haven't heard the new album jet. I ordered three copies of "Painfully Mainstream", sadly customs seized the delivery due to some hazy labeling by DFTBA Records and it'll cost me more time and money to get the stuff back from customs, than just buying it again on amazon as download. F*ck german customs, I hate those wankers.

    I just saw a tweet from Alan Lastufka of DFTBA Records. He said,

    "There was a misprint in @hexachordal's Painfully Mainstream booklet. Replacements will be sent out to everyone. Details coming next week."

    If I were you, I'd hold on to the original booklet. Who knows, some day it may be a rare collector's item.

    I also noticed the misprints and the lyrics of Indigo printed twice, but i'm not sure i mind too much though.It's probably an expense they could do without sending out replacements.It's such a small booklet you'd have thought the errors would have been spotted earlier.

    Hilarious as the idea is of nobody spotting this ridiculous error all the way through the process, it was actually fine until it went to the printers', whereupon they, as the technical term goes, 'cocked it up'. This is why they've sent us the replacements free of charge :)

    The main thing Tom is that the album plays and it's great.I especially love the seasonal songs they are exceptionally good.I look forward to the tour in the Spring and hope you're back in Bury St Edmunds again.
  • Got my album yesterday ^_^ I think I'm in love with it. Although my lyric booklet is a bit messed up (half of the lyrics to two of the songs are missing, indigo is on there twice), the music is still made of perfection :). I've already memorized They. Also, question: did anyone else's lyric book have issues? <3

    You're getting lots of money off me this time around, I'm getting the physical copy for christmas, but I am an impatient person so I also got it off itunes yesterday. And I must say it is extremely spectacular ^_^ but then again, I knew it would be (:
  • I preordered this like a month ago, and i'm SO EXCITED for when it arrives! from what i've heard of it so far (on youtube, etc.) it's going to be fantastic. Hopefully it will come in the mail tomorrow or Thursday ^_^ <3 Thank you for being so awesome.
