Awkward Ballads for the Easily Pleased

Awkward Ballads coverLet’s pretend I’m not me for a second, and learn about Awkward Ballads for the Easily Pleased in the THIRD PERSON:

Awkward Ballads for the Easily Pleased, the debut album from Tom Milsom, has had an interesting past, appearing in several different versions. It was released initially in January 2008, as a limited edition run of 50, an amount considered reasonable to cope with demand at the time, each individually illustrated and signed by Tom and given a number. These sold out in three days, and a new, larger print run of 2,000 was ordered along with a remastering of the tracks and a new booklet, featuring lyrics and, y’know, copyright notices. Hah. They’ve been selling steadily ever since.

The album was recorded over 2007 in a bedroom, often with very little consideration of the fact that they would eventually be listened to by real people, occasionally giving the album a strange feeling of utter detachment from anything in the real world ever (see the breakdown at the end of Catsongs II) but strong tunes, simple hooks and a constant sense of fun and enjoyment make Awkward Ballads a favourite for many across the globe.

Can I buy and actual hard copy of the album?
  • Domi
I would like to know that as well! I'm in need of a hard copy of this album, I'm gonna die without :p.
  • Tom, I saw that you have taken down most of your Youtube videos. My question is Why?? They were so good I loved going back and watching old videos of yours. I want to know if they is a way to find them or are they gone forever!!!!!
  • I miss them too! I really liked that google meme one in the snow with your ukulele. ^_^ that one was really good.

Curious. Is there a reason for the fish-ness of your songs? In the song "Seafood": "Nothing's more emotional than fish".

In your new album (which I'm obsessed with, and this one as well, by the way), you mention fish again in the song "Animals". Except, you contradict yourself. "And what if fish had emotions/ Suddenly our oceans/ Would become blinded with things".

I'm just curious. By the way, thank you for introducing me to Logan Whitehurst on your Myspace blog. He's my other obsession besides you and... well, I'll admit it... a lot of other bands.
  • Question: Is there a way that i can get a physical copy of awkward ballads? or are those completely gone, never to be seen again?
  • oh, nevermind, FOUND
  • flapjac

  • Yeah, i've seen that before, but unlike some sites, it actually does come back ^_^ try again later or tomorrow, and i'm sure it'll be fine.
