So I went to a Man Man gig once

and one of the bands supporting them was a group of guys who called themselves Three Trapped Tigers, and they absolutely rocked. I don’t know why it took me so long to get hold of their first EP (like, two years?) but I just have, and it’s pretty fantastic. It’s not often that music makes me rock out quite so apoplectically, and I’m seeing this as a really good thing. I like to treat some of their songs like Jackson Pollock paintings, following individual strings of instrument through. The rhythm section in particular dances all over the place. It’s a numbers-factory. It’s rust in motion. Get this EP.

Tonight, I shall be cooking a lentil dahl with quinoa and broccoli. I’ll let you know how it went.

What's a lentil dahl? Sorry, my culinary skills don't broaden further than scrambled egg on toast…

This comment exists only because twitter told me to comment. I really have nothing to comment on…well, except that I like lentils.

Sometimes I'm not sure if I should trust your musical recommendations or not, but I guess I might as well.

I have their myspace open now. Lentils are lovely, don't know if I've made that particular dish though. (Google tells me it's vegan and dairy free – surprised I haven't.) Quinoa is excellent. I don't care for regular pasta, and I like that. Don't be worried if the waters is yellow :)

Out of your meal, I only know what broccoli is. Well, I know what lentils are as well, but not how you'd dahl them. Bloody Southerners… ;)

1. I love the Three Trapped Tigers, they're music is brilliant.

2. I once had a really good Lentil Dahl at this indian place on a corner near my apartment, it's called curry in a hurry, and i think it's on 28th and park, check it out next time you're in New York

3. Quinoa is my favorite. Try making it in a stir fry with some tofu, but make sure the tofu is firm, otherwise it just becomes a mess :) add some sesame oil to that too.

4. DFTBA, (well KBA, keep being awesome). I look forward to your blog posts every day.

Ahhhh. TOM! You have introduced to SO many new music acts in the past week. It's OVERWHELMING, but WONDERFUL and I don't know WHY I'm YELLING!!!!!

So, Three Trapped Tigers: I find myself liking them greatly. For me their music feels like being transported to a foreign, exciting, and dangerous land, but being totally laid back and content with it.

As for your dinner:It's sounds scrumptious.

Fun fact about quinoa, it is a grass, not a grain and therefore the only thing like it that is Kosher for passover. Not that you would care, because your not a jew..but hey

I see what you mean about the painting thing, it really is like a big web of them. It sounds amazing, thank you for introducing me to this! Is the EP on itunes?

As for your dinner, I have no idea what that is. Best of luck- don't poison yourself.

Get out of here with your cooking delicious things and not for me, Tom Milsom. I was already jealous of your paella. I've heard some of Man Man, my friend saw them in DC. More than anything, however, I appreciate the repetition of first letters. I feel like the next smaller act on the bill should be called Four Fiercely Fanged Ferrets. Or something.

Lentil dahl…never heard of that before. Named after Roald, maybe?

After having listened to a few of their songs, I just would like to say that I really appreciate how you've described listening to their music. Especially the part about Jackson Pollock.
